- 2 parts Whisky
- top up Soda water
- 1 part Lemon juice
- 5 Ice cubes
- 1 Lemon slice
- 1 Maraschino cherry
- 1 Orange slice
- dash of Sugar syrup
Instructions
- Shake the whisky, lemon juice and sugar syrup with cracked ice then pour into a highball glass over the ice. Top up with soda water.

I was drinking this beverage in the tropics over 50 years ago and in those days it was made with gin: what is described is a Tom Collins which is whisky based!
John Collins comprises measure of gin; a splash of squash, either lemon or grapefuit; a slice of lemon; marachino cherry; an ice cube or crushed ice; top up with soda.
There’s also a rum based Collins but I can’t remember the applied name.
